Somewhere along the California coast in May of 1979, a guy leaned out of a van window and forgot about everything else. Arms draped over the door, chin up, eyes fixed on the Pacific - there are surfers out in that water, small dark shapes riding the break, and every single one of them has his full and undivided attention. The washed pale blue of the sky, the gentle surf, the easy stillness of someone completely absorbed by the ocean - it feels less like a photograph and more like a Friday afternoon that never really ended. The Waves Are Calling is a print for the surfers, the ocean dreamers, and everyone who has ever felt that particular pull toward the water and simply followed it.
