"Somewhere In The Aps"
Nobody wrote down exactly where this was taken. And somehow that makes it even better.
Preserved on a Kodak Ektachrome slide, this image captures a scene so quietly perfect it almost doesn't seem real — a cluster of traditional Alpine farmhouses and weathered wooden barns alongside a country road, vivid green meadows stretching behind them, and dramatically snow capped peaks rising above a soft band of clouds in the distance. The sky is a deep summer blue. The grass is impossibly green. The whole scene hums with the particular stillness of a warm afternoon in a mountain valley where nothing much is happening and everything is exactly right.
Austria, Switzerland, northern Italy — it could be any of them. It doesn't matter. What matters is that someone was passing through, pulled over, pointed a camera at this view, and had the good sense to preserve it forever.
Some places don't need a name. They just need to be seen.
