"Still Waters" Lake Louise Banff Alberta Canada
Tucked inside a vintage cardboard slide, handwritten in red and black pen — Lake Louise '60 — this image has been carefully identified and preserved for over sixty five years. And looking at it, you completely understand why.
The iconic glacial waters of Lake Louise stretch out in perfect stillness, their impossible turquoise surface mirroring the snow capped Rocky Mountain peaks that rise on either side. Dark forested slopes frame the scene. Golden wildflowers spill into the foreground. A small pavilion sits quietly near the shoreline, tiny against the grandeur surrounding it.
This is one of the most beautiful places on earth, captured in 1960 by someone who clearly knew exactly what they were looking at.
Some views stop you in your tracks. This one has been doing it for over sixty years.
