Deep cobalt water, white surf breaking hard against ancient rock, a sweep of green headland holding its ground at the edge of the continent - this is the Carmel coast doing exactly what it has always done, indifferent and magnificent. That cobalt blue is not enhanced or filtered; it is exactly what the photographer saw standing on that bluff fifty-plus years before it found its way to your wall.
